A practical guide to Oregon stormwater maintenance PORTLAND METRO · OREGON
CLEAN WATER SERVICES REGION

Washington County
stormwater guidance.

Clean Water Services and its partner cities operate programs to inspect privately maintained stormwater water quality facilities.

A PRACTICAL CHECKLIST

Where to start

01

Identify the responsible agency

Clean Water Services identifies Beaverton, Cornelius, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Sherwood, Tigard and Tualatin as partner cities with inspection programs. Other CWS-area communities contact CWS directly.

02

Review property-specific maintenance requirements

Privately maintained facilities may have recorded agreements defining who maintains a facility and the required schedule.

03

Determine what kind of facility you have

CWS distinguishes vegetated facilities from structural systems and publishes maintenance resources for owners.

04

Respond to an agency inspection

If a city or CWS inspector has identified deficiencies, use their instructions and ask questions before making changes that could affect the facility.

05

Find an appropriate provider and keep records

Use the published resources and ask contractors whether they handle your facility type, service location, and any applicable plan requirements.
